DIY@DIV, the second iteration of Truck Solo, was a re-imagination of the work to suit the place and context of Left of Main, an artist run studio situated in Vancouver’s historic Chinatown. Presented as part of an ‘off’ Dance In Vancouver event, the work weaves together questions about the art-industrial complex, the value of art, dim sum restaurants, gentrification and the history of the neighbourhood. In its iterative nature, DIY@DIV and Truck Solo became a container for questions inspired by the intricacies of spaces past, present and future. How do we inhabit? How can we be with each other more intensely? Part storytelling, part dedication, and part dance, this work reimagines what and how we move through and with.
