truck solo
performed and created at Boombox in Vancouver, BC

Truck Solo, a site-specific work, was created in residence at Boombox, a parked semi-trailer truck in Vancouver, BC. Struck by the unique beauty, complexity, and slew of challenges presented by the space, I draw upon Juhani Pallasmaa’s architectural theories relating bodies to physical spaces. The work questions performativity in the context time, place and an intimate and uniquely situated audience. Inspired by Brian Massumi’s work on affect theory, Truck Solo highlights and questions our communities, institutions and artistic lives with the aim ‘increasing the intensity with which we live and move.’ Supported by Matthew Tomkinson’s sound design, we aim to amplify the liveness of the space and to create an experience which amplifies each of our own human-ness.
Forever thanks to Boombox for the time and space to create.
